Gerald D. Thompson, of Telegraph Rd., Pike, died Tuesday April 30, 2019 in Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw, at the age of 76.
He was born February 10, 1943 in Indigo, California a son of the late Harold and Cecile (nee Whitmore) Zimmerman. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-62 and was a member of Hunt-Stout Post American Legion, the NRA and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
He was a self-employed Gunsmith, also working in metal plating and bluing/black oxidizing. He also worked as a machinist for Markin Tubing in LeRoy, Aronson's in Arcade, Almor and Unidex in Warsaw and Bliss Machine Company. He was also a bus driver for Letchworth Central School and the Wyoming Transit Service and also was a hunter safety course instructor.
He is survived by his wife - Lorena (nee Hackett) Thompson whom he married October 1, 1966; three children - Stephen (Susan) Thompson of Warsaw, Gerald (Kitty) Thompson of Buckhannon, WV, Tonia (Jay) Harrison of Newark, NY; sister - Peggy Zimmerman of Syracuse; seven grandchildren - Bryant Gerald, Kayla, Shawnna, Cyrus, Logan Michelle, Kolin and Ryan; two great-grandchildren - Michael and Sonny and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday May 3, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at W. S. Davis Funeral Home, Inc., 358 W. Main St., Arcade. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 4, 2019 at 11 am in Holy Family Parish, 4316 Route 98, North Java. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, North Java.
